Wood certification to give information on source of forest products

The Indian government has launched the Indian Forest & Wood Certification Scheme to promote sustainable forest management and agroforestry practices. The scheme provides an environmental label, called PRAMAAN, to inform consumers about the origin and source of forest and tree-based products. It offers certification for individual farmers, groups of farmers, institutions, and industries involved in agroforestry and wood-based industries. The certification process will be conducted by independent bodies accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Certification Bodies.
